Propane patio heaters and gas fire pits produce the strongest heat output for open outdoor spaces. Electric outdoor heaters work best in covered patios or low-wind environments where heat loss is reduced.
Fire pits can be used on decks only if the surface is rated for high heat exposure and the fire pit includes proper clearance protection. Do not place wood-burning fire pits directly on composite decking without a heat barrier.
