Empire White Mountain Hearth Kennesaw II Refractory Vent-Free Gas Log Set – 18", 24" & 30"
The Empire White Mountain Hearth Kennesaw II Refractory Log Set is a six-piece decorative gas-log set designed for compatible HearthRite vent-free burner systems. Available in 18-inch, 24-inch, and 30-inch sizes, the hand-painted concrete logs create a traditional wood-fire appearance while allowing the burner, fuel type, and control configuration to be selected separately.

Important: Compatible HearthRite Burner Required
The Kennesaw II is a decorative refractory log set only. A compatible HearthRite vent-free burner is required for operation and is selected separately.
30" log-set compatibility: The HLS30R2 30-inch log set is specified by Empire to fit a 24-inch burner. Do not assume the log-set size and burner size must always match.
Realistic Refractory Gas Logs for HearthRite Vent-Free Burners
The Kennesaw II is designed for homeowners who want a traditional wood-log appearance while using a compatible vent-free gas burner system.
Each set includes six richly detailed, hand-painted concrete logs. The refractory construction provides a substantial, masonry-like appearance and is designed to work with the approved flame pattern and placement requirements of the compatible HearthRite burner.
Because the decorative logs and burner system are separate components, correct selection requires checking the log-set model, fireplace dimensions, burner size, fuel type, and control configuration before ordering.

Oxygen Depletion Sensor Safety System
The Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) belongs to the compatible HearthRite burner system, not the decorative Kennesaw II log set itself.
The HearthRite ODS safety pilot is designed to shut the heater off if there is insufficient fresh air and to shut off the main burner if the pilot flame goes out.
System distinction: The Kennesaw II logs do not themselves contain the burner, pilot, ODS assembly, gas valve, or control system.
Vent-Free Operation & Combustion Air
The compatible HearthRite heater is an unvented gas-fired heater that uses air from the room in which it is installed.
Adequate combustion and ventilation air must be provided according to the manufacturer instructions and applicable codes.
Vent-free does not mean air-free. Do not install the heater in a space that cannot satisfy the required combustion and ventilation-air provisions.
Heating role: Manufacturer information identifies the HearthRite heater as a supplemental heating source.
Installation & Operating Requirements
- Installation and service must be performed by qualified personnel.
- Do not install the heater in a bedroom or bathroom.
- Do not burn solid fuel while the vent-free heater is installed.
- Fireplace glass doors must be fully open during heater operation.
- Do not allow fans to blow directly into the fireplace.
- Do not use unapproved blower inserts, heat exchangers, or accessories.
- A fireplace screen must be in place during operation unless combustion air is provided by another approved method.
- Maintain all required combustible clearances.
- Provide adequate fresh air for combustion and ventilation.
Fireplace Clearance Considerations
The HearthRite installation manual includes specific requirements for walls, ceilings, mantels, floors, and other combustible materials.
Because the final required clearances depend on the exact fireplace and burner configuration, use the manufacturer's installation manual and qualified installation personnel to verify the completed installation.
Do not rely on one generic clearance number. Final side, ceiling, mantel, and floor clearances must follow the applicable manufacturer diagrams.
Correct Log Placement Matters
The six Kennesaw II logs must be installed in the exact approved arrangement for the compatible burner system.
Correct Positioning
Install every log in the manufacturer-specified location.
Do Not Mix Logs
Use only the correct components for the selected Kennesaw II set.
Flame Pattern
Incorrect placement can alter flame behavior.
Soot Prevention
Improper log placement can contribute to excessive soot.

Flame Authority Expert Recommendation
Choose the Empire White Mountain Hearth Kennesaw II when you want a traditional six-piece refractory gas-log appearance and have already confirmed the correct HearthRite vent-free burner and fireplace dimensions.
The most important purchasing decision is system compatibility. Confirm the selected HLS18R2, HLS24R2, or HLS30R2 log set, fireplace front and rear width, 14" minimum depth, 24" minimum height, burner size, control type, and natural-gas or propane configuration before ordering.
Pay particular attention to the HLS30R2: although it is a 30" decorative log set, Empire specifies it for a 24" burner.
