Summerset Pro Power Burner at a Glance
What is the Summerset Pro Power Burner designed for?
The Summerset Pro Power Burner is a high-output built-in outdoor gas burner designed for oversized cookware, seafood boils, stir-frying, large-batch cooking, frying, and simmering. Its inner and outer burners provide layered heat control for recipes that need either concentrated heat or broad cooking power.
Available Fuel Configurations
| Model | Fuel Type | Installation | Total Burner Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| PB2PRO | Natural Gas | Built-In Outdoor Installation | 60,000 BTUs |
| PB2PROL | Liquid Propane | Built-In Outdoor Installation | 60,000 BTUs |
Built for Feasts, Large Cookware, and High-Heat Outdoor Cooking
Some outdoor meals require more than an ordinary side burner. The Summerset Pro Power Burner gives outdoor cooks the concentrated power and broad cookware support needed for large pots, seafood boils, wok meals, sauces, stews, frying, and other demanding recipes.
The burner system combines a 36,000 BTU stainless steel outer burner with a 24,000 BTU brass and aluminum inner burner. This dual-burner design gives you greater control over how heat is distributed beneath the cookware. Use focused heat for smaller vessels and controlled simmering, broader heat for oversized pots, or both burners when maximum output is required.
White LED front-panel lighting helps illuminate the controls during evening cooking. The control-knob lighting changes from white to red when a burner knob is placed in the on position, providing a visible reminder that the control has been activated. The burner flame must still be visually confirmed because the illuminated knob indicates the knob position, not confirmed gas flow or ignition.
With its built-in configuration, stainless steel construction, substantial cooking surface, and high-output burner system, the Pro Power Burner is designed to become a permanent specialty-cooking station within a properly constructed outdoor kitchen.

Why Choose the Summerset Pro Power Burner?
Dual-Burner Flexibility
The separate inner and outer burners allow you to match the heat pattern to the cookware and recipe rather than relying on one fixed burner zone.
High-Output Performance
Up to 60,000 combined BTUs provide the power needed for large-volume boiling, wok cooking, frying, and other demanding outdoor cooking methods.
Large Cooking Surface
The 215-square-inch cooking surface supports cookware that may be too large or demanding for a conventional outdoor side burner.
Illuminated Controls
White front-panel LEDs and white-to-red control-knob lighting improve visibility and provide a visual indication when a control knob is in the on position.
Permanent Built-In Design
The burner is made for integration into a properly ventilated, non-combustible outdoor kitchen island or an installation using the required approved protection.
Lifetime Warranty Coverage
The product is supported by Summerset’s Gold Standard Lifetime Warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s registration, maintenance, installation, and coverage conditions.
Key Product Features
36,000 BTU Outer Burner
The stainless steel outer burner delivers broad heat beneath larger pots and cookware, making it useful for high-volume boiling and recipes that benefit from wide heat distribution.
24,000 BTU Inner Burner
The brass and aluminum inner burner provides concentrated heat and greater flexibility when using smaller cookware or managing recipes that require more focused temperature control.
Independent Heat Control
Controlling the inner and outer burners separately allows the cooking area and total output to be adjusted according to the cookware size and desired cooking method.
LED Front-Panel Lighting
Integrated white LED lighting improves control-panel visibility and adds practical illumination when cooking after sunset.
White-to-Red LED Knobs
The control-knob illumination changes from white to red when the knob is placed in the on position. Always confirm ignition by observing the burner flame directly.
Stainless Steel Construction
The supplied product specifications list #443 stainless steel construction with a #201 stainless steel grate for outdoor cooking durability and a coordinated outdoor-kitchen appearance.
Electronic Spark Ignition
The burner uses an electronic spark ignition procedure. The lid must be open before lighting, and only one valve should be activated at a time during initial ignition.
Protective Burner Lid
A fitted lid helps protect the cooking area when the power burner is not operating. The lid must be opened before attempting to ignite the burners.

Installation Requirements
The Summerset Pro Power Burner is designed for permanent built-in installation in an outdoor kitchen. The appliance must be installed according to local codes and the instructions in the manufacturer’s manual.
Outdoor Installation Only
Do not install or operate the power burner inside a building, garage, shed, enclosed area, recreational vehicle, boat, or other moving installation.
Non-Combustible Island
Built-in installations require a properly constructed non-combustible island or enclosure unless an approved insulating solution is used as required for the installation.
Professional Gas Connection
Gas-line sizing, regulator installation, pressure verification, leak testing, and fuel conversion should be completed by a qualified gas professional.
Level Installation
The appliance must be level in every direction. An out-of-level burner can cause irregular combustion and uneven or inefficient heating.
Minimum Side and Rear Clearances
| Adjacent Surface | Minimum Clearance |
|---|---|
| Non-Combustible Wall | 4 Inches from the left side, right side, and rear |
| Protected Combustible Wall | 14 Inches from the left side, right side, and rear |
| Combustible Wall | 16 Inches from the left side, right side, and rear |
A non-combustible backsplash must maintain at least 4 inches of rear clearance for ventilation. The required clearance must be established before any wall begins behind the appliance.
Outdoor Kitchen Ventilation Requirements
Proper enclosure ventilation is essential for replacement air, heat control, and the dispersal of gas if a connection leaks. The enclosure must either remain open on one side or provide the required permanent ventilation openings.
Minimum Ventilation Openings
- At least four permanent openings
- Two openings positioned near the top
- Two openings positioned near the floor
- Openings spaced at least 90 degrees apart
- At least 10 square inches of free area per opening
- At least 40 square inches of total free ventilation area
Keep Openings Unobstructed
- Maintain at least 6 inches of clearance outside each opening
- Maintain at least 2 inches of clearance inside each opening
- Do not block ventilation with stored items or equipment
- LP installations require low-positioned ventilation because propane is heavier than air
Important Ventilation Warning
Do not operate the power burner in an enclosure that lacks permanent ventilation. Trapped gas or excessive heat can create a fire, explosion, injury, or property-damage hazard.
Overhead Construction and Exhaust Hood Guidance
- Maintain at least 5 feet between the countertop and overhead construction.
- Do not use the appliance beneath unprotected combustible overhead construction.
- An exhaust hood is required when the appliance is installed beneath overhead construction as directed by the manual.
- The hood should extend beyond the cooking area.
- The manual specifies a minimum blower capacity of 1,000 CFM for proper outdoor exhaust.
- The exhaust hood and overhead construction materials must be non-combustible.
Gas Supply Requirements
Never connect the burner directly to an unregulated gas line. A pressure regulator must be installed, and the supply line must be sized for the combined BTU demand of all gas appliances connected to that line.
| Fuel Type | Minimum Inlet Pressure | Maximum Inlet Pressure |
|---|---|---|
| Natural Gas | 4.0 Inches Water Column | 7.0 Inches Water Column |
| Liquid Propane | 10.0 Inches Water Column | 14.0 Inches Water Column |
PB2PRO Natural Gas Model
Use the natural gas configuration with the correct NG regulator, orifices, fittings, gas pressure, and supply capacity. The manual states that natural gas appliances must use the supplied NG regulator.
PB2PROL Liquid Propane Model
Use the propane configuration with the correct LP regulator, hose, orifices, and supply pressure. Portable-cylinder installations are designed for a standard 20-pound propane cylinder with a Type 1 connection.
Gas Installation Warning
The gas supplied must match the appliance configuration. Using the wrong fuel, operating without the correct regulator, or connecting to an improperly sized supply line can create unsafe operation and may void warranty coverage.
Natural Gas vs. Liquid Propane
| Consideration | Natural Gas – PB2PRO | Liquid Propane – PB2PROL |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel Source | Permanent natural gas connection | Standard propane cylinder or approved LP supply |
| Best For | Permanent outdoor kitchens with an existing natural gas line | Outdoor kitchens where propane is the preferred or available fuel |
| Fuel Management | No portable cylinder to refill | Cylinder level must be monitored and refilled or exchanged |
| Installation | Requires correctly sized NG supply and regulator | Requires correct LP regulator, connection, and low-level enclosure ventilation |
| Cooking Output | 60,000 total BTUs | 60,000 total BTUs |
Which fuel model should you choose?
Choose PB2PRO when the outdoor kitchen has a properly sized natural gas connection. Choose PB2PROL when the installation will use liquid propane and can meet the propane regulator, cylinder, connection, and ventilation requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between PB2PRO and PB2PROL?
PB2PRO is configured for natural gas, while PB2PROL is configured for liquid propane. Choose the model that matches the permanent fuel source and installation requirements of your outdoor kitchen.
How many BTUs does the Summerset Pro Power Burner produce?
It produces up to 60,000 total BTUs through a 36,000 BTU outer burner and a 24,000 BTU inner burner. Actual cooking performance depends on correct gas pressure, supply capacity, installation, cookware, and weather conditions.
Can the inner and outer burners be controlled separately?
Yes. Separate controls allow the inner burner, outer burner, or both burner zones to be used according to the cookware size and heat requirement.
Is the Pro Power Burner suitable for seafood boils?
Yes. Its high combined output and large cooking surface make it appropriate for seafood boils and other large-pot cooking when the cookware is stable and suitable for the grate.
Can I use the burner for wok cooking?
Yes. The dual-burner system can provide the concentrated, high-output heat often needed for outdoor stir-frying, provided the wok or support arrangement is stable and appropriate for the cooking grate.
Can the power burner simmer food at lower temperatures?
The independently controlled inner burner provides more flexibility for lower-output cooking and simmering. Wind, cookware, gas pressure, and installation conditions can affect low-flame performance.
Is the Summerset Pro Power Burner for outdoor use only?
Yes. It must not be operated inside a building, garage, shed, enclosed patio, recreational vehicle, boat, or other enclosed or moving installation.
Is this a built-in or freestanding power burner?
It is designed for built-in installation in a properly constructed outdoor kitchen island. The enclosure must meet the required material, ventilation, clearance, and gas-supply conditions.
What are the required cutout dimensions?
The listed island cutout is 13 3/4 inches wide by 19 inches deep by 8 inches high. Confirm all measurements and installation conditions before cutting the countertop.
What are the overall product dimensions?
The listed overall dimensions are 15 3/4 inches wide by 23 1/4 inches deep by 9 5/8 inches high. Additional space is required for ventilation, gas connections, clearances, and service access.
Does the outdoor kitchen island need ventilation?
Yes. Unless one side remains completely open, the enclosure needs permanent upper and lower openings totaling at least 40 square inches of free ventilation area as described in the manual.
Can the power burner be installed next to a combustible wall?
Only when the required clearance and protection conditions are met. The manual lists 16 inches from combustible walls, 14 inches from protected combustible walls, and 4 inches from non-combustible walls.
Can it be installed beneath an overhead structure?
It must not be installed beneath unprotected combustible construction. The manual requires at least 5 feet above the countertop and specifies an appropriate exhaust hood when installed beneath overhead construction.
What exhaust hood capacity is recommended?
The supplied manual specifies a minimum blower capacity of 1,000 CFM when an exhaust hood is used. The final hood must cover the cooking area and comply with the installation environment and applicable requirements.
Does the burner include illuminated controls?
Yes. It includes white LED front-panel lighting and knobs that change from white to red when placed in the on position. The color change does not confirm that the burner has ignited.
Does the power burner need electricity?
Electrical power is used for the lighting and related components. The outlet must be properly grounded, and cords must be kept away from hot surfaces and walkways.
Does the power burner include a regulator?
The appliance must use the correct regulator for its fuel configuration, and the manual identifies fuel-specific regulator components. Confirm the supplied components for the exact model before installation.
Can the burner be converted between natural gas and propane?
The manual references fuel-conversion components, but conversion must use the correct parts and procedures. Have a qualified gas professional complete and verify any fuel conversion before operation.
What should I do if the burner does not ignite?
Turn the control to off, wait at least 5 minutes, and repeat the lighting procedure with the lid open. If ignition problems continue, shut off the gas supply and have the appliance inspected.
Can the burner be left operating unattended?
No. The manufacturer identifies it as an attended appliance, and it must never be left burning without active supervision.
How should the stainless steel be cleaned?
Clean it with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth, wiping with the stainless steel grain. Rinse and dry completely, and avoid chlorine, abrasive contamination, and harsh chemicals.
Should the burner be covered when not in use?
A fitted cover can help protect it from debris and weather exposure. Allow the appliance to cool and dry completely before installing the cover.
What warranty covers the Summerset Pro Power Burner?
It is backed by Summerset’s Gold Standard Lifetime Warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s registration, original-owner, maintenance, installation, documentation, and exclusion requirements.
Is the Summerset Pro Power Burner Right for Your Outdoor Kitchen?
Choose the Summerset Pro Power Burner when you need a permanent, high-output outdoor cooking station for oversized cookware, seafood boils, wok meals, frying, simmering, and large-batch recipes. Its dual-burner configuration offers more heat control and cooking versatility than a conventional single-zone side burner.
Before purchasing, verify the correct natural gas or propane model, island cutout, required clearances, ventilation area, overhead conditions, electrical access, gas-line capacity, and professional installation requirements. Proper planning is essential to safe operation and full burner performance.

from 4074 reviewsI was able to get a Novus 33 in brick refractory back for my NG Novus fireplace insert. Novus is a high demand item and Flame authority was only supplier without a huge delay from manufacturer. I recommend them for all fireplace needs.
Great service and great product
Product is great, free shipping was good, and unpacking and installing it was easy. Customer support was great too, both with the sales and shipping carrier. After much research…the Modern Flames Redstone is the one.
A+ = both the sale, the shipping process, and the product
I purchased burner and fire box. I emailed and spoke with Jim . He helped me from start to finish. Great service
The mantel required a little bit of sanding and prep before painting, but was good quality. Flame Authority did an excellent job shipping and it arrived by freight in perfect condition.
The mantel assembled well. I ended up using some construction adhesive to glue the legs on to make it a little more sturdy. I cut pocket holes in the top to attach it to the wall.
Very happy with our purchase!
I shopped for a grill for two people. I want it to last for ten years or more. I want it to get really hot for grilling steaks after they have been cooled sous vide. I am totally satisfied with this grill and highly recommend it for anyone with similar needs.
Came as advertised and without any delays. Arrived quickly. No issues and would buy from flame authority again.

I would recommend this to anyone as a trusted tester of it I am very pleased of the outcome it rains.!

Simply beautifully designed. Very efficient. Looks gorgeous in our mid century modern home in a corner space. Will save us $$$ on electric heat bills and is easy to clean with fireplace glass cleaner.
I believe it was David Novak that helped me. Someone ALWAYS answered the phone and located this burner when I couldn't find it anywhere else. It almost seemed too good to be true. But it wasn't. The burner is now nestled in my new outdoor kitchen and am very pleased.
Thank you for a very smooth transaction. the remote is very useful. It is very easy to install
