The fireplace is not load-bearing. Framing and finishing materials must not place pressure on the top of the firebox. The unit must be installed level, secured with the supplied mounting brackets, and positioned flush with the framing.
Required Fresh-Air Inlet
A minimum unobstructed fresh-air inlet area of 160 square inches / 1,032 cm² is required. The airflow path must reach the underside of the fireplace.
The inlet may be incorporated as a recessed opening, front register, or side registers. When side registers are used, an opening on each side is recommended for best results. If a decorative grille covers the inlet, the overall opening must be enlarged to compensate for the grille’s blocked area.
Installation warning: Operating the fireplace without the required fresh-air inlet can cause poor flame performance and damage to the unit.

Water-Supply Installation
The fireplace is designed for connection to a cold-water line using standard 1/4-inch outside-diameter tubing. The main water connection is located near the lower left rear of the firebox, so framing should allow access for the water line and a serviceable shutoff location.
Normal tap water may be used. A water softener is recommended in hard-water areas, and more frequent cleaning may be required. Unfiltered water from a well or another unmonitored source is not recommended.
When permanent plumbing is not possible, compatible refillable Optimyst water containers may be used. One container is required for each of the four flame modules, and each refill provides up to approximately six hours of flame operation. Manual containers are not recommended for frequently used installations because the glass and media tray must be removed for refilling.
Recommended Mounting Height
For the best flame-viewing angle, Dimplex recommends mounting the bottom of the fireplace between 5 and 50 inches above the floor.
Installation Below a Television, Mantel, or Artwork
For temperature-sensitive objects installed above the fireplace, follow the clearance and placement requirements supplied by the television, mantel, artwork, or equipment manufacturer. The fireplace manufacturer does not provide one universal clearance for every overhanging product.
Bathroom Installation
Bathroom installations require GFCI protection. The fireplace is not watertight and must be positioned so water cannot enter the unit. It must not be installed where it could fall into a bathtub or other water container.
